About the Bihar BOCW Board
The Bihar Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BBOCWWB) operates under the Labour Resources Department, Government of Bihar. It was established as per the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996.
The Board is dedicated to safeguarding the rights and improving the living standards of the vast population of unorganized construction workers in the state. We achieve this by collecting a welfare cess from construction projects and channelizing these funds directly into various social security and financial assistance schemes for registered beneficiaries and their families.
Our Mission
Our central mission is to provide a robust social security net and financial stability for construction workers, who often face high occupational hazards and irregular employment. We strive to elevate their quality of life by focusing on key areas:
- Financial Security: Providing accident and death compensation (up to ₹4 Lakh) and a post-retirement pension of ₹1,000/month for a dignified old age.
- Education & Health: Offering comprehensive educational assistance to beneficiaries' children (including full tuition for premier institutes like IITs/AIIMS) and covering medical expenses for major ailments.
- Welfare & Dignity: Providing assistance for marriage (up to ₹50,000), maternity, funeral rites, tool purchases, and grants for house repair/construction.
